Dark & Dangerous times.
Since it’s inception, America, and Americans were proud to declare that “I may not agree with all that you say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it.” Indeed, America was born of ideas when men, who sometimes disagreed passionately, got together to discuss and debate and the clash of ideas lit sparks of inspiration. By no means did they EVER agree on all the issues, often finding a middle ground that neither satisfied nor fully disappointing, but a path forward, a workable understanding of issues at hand.
And so, using the Iroquois Nation as a kind of model, the “founding fathers” developed a representative form of government and thus began the debate between the federal government & the powers of the states. That debate continues to this day, perhaps now, 2025, more than ever. And debate in America has taken a dark & ugly turn. We are more divided than I’ve ever seen in my seven decades, and that IS NOT accidental. There are myriad forces that work hard to keep us divided and agitated. The people are told constantly that there’s bottomless chasms and mountains too tall to overcome between the two camps. And sadly, debate is dead. Strangled by a betrayal of sacred tradition. Too many Americans now say “I may not agree with everything you say so SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!
Welcome to 21st Century America, where folks use terms like “hate speech”, or “white privilege” to silence opposing views or at least place an expressed idea or thought “outside of consideration”. If someone objects to a flood of illegal immigrants, they’re labeled a “xenophobe” and beneath consideration. If someone insists that a “trans woman” is a man, they’re labeled a transphobe and again, beneath consideration. It goes on and on. And of course, being “beneath consideration” cuts off any and all discussion. The very folks slapping their labels on folks will not, cannot, defend their positions.
As I write these words, April 4, 2025, I am constantly being assured that people who supported Donald Trump will soon come to “regret” their choice. NOT ONE will give an exact reason, but they throw around nefarious sounding buzzwords, baseless innuendo, allegations and insinuations. But Most folks vote for policy, NOT personality. And the sad fact is there are some who’re so blinded by rage they cannot be reasoned with at any level, They cannot explain their rage, beyond a dislike that is almost rabid. And they become rather scornful, elitist sounding.
Of course the big irony in all this is….The previous administration did EVERYTHING in it’s power to stop a political opponent they had NO CHANCE of beating at the polls. First they tried to bankrupt him, (and enriching him by doing so). Then they fought to keep him off the ballot, and failed. And then of course the famous “34 felony convictions”

And they called HIM the fascist!!!!
The “Lawfare” waged against the man was constant & so obvious, it arguably aided in his reelection. It certainly contributed to the lowest believability rating the “news networks” have ever registered. Though they try desperately, they can no longer shape & drive the narrative.
